At Crafts with Meaning, we see textile waste as a resource with the potential to create new products, new value and new opportunities and not simply as a disposal challenge
As part of our circular manufacturing approach, we continue to explore practical ways to keep textile materials in use for longer. Through our projects and product development work, locally sourced recycled fabrics find new applications in artwork, bag linings and other product components, demonstrating how materials that might otherwise end up as waste can be given a new purpose.
Our work in textile recycling is still evolving, and we see significant potential for collaboration with businesses, organisations and other partners interested in developing practical circular solutions. We are particularly interested in working with partners to explore how textile waste can be collected, processed and transformed into useful, commercially viable materials and products.
Looking ahead, our ambition is to establish a fully fledged textile recycling facility in Kenya by 2030. Our goal is to build the capacity to recover and process textile waste at a larger scale, helping reduce the volume of textiles sent to landfill while creating new materials for manufacturing and new opportunities within the circular economy.
We believe this transition cannot happen in isolation. It will require collaboration across the value chain—from waste generators and manufacturers to technology providers, researchers, funders and product partners.
If you are looking to explore what textile waste can become, we would like to build that future together.
